Home Dehumidification with an Ultra Aire XT150H
Join Master Builder Matt Risinger as he interviews Project Architect Eric McInerney of Heinz Architects about the standalone dehumidifier and HVAC equipment installed in a custom,3,200 square-foot home near Austin, Texas. In addition to using solar overhangs for cooling, the home was split into two units (up and down), with 1.5 tons of cooling upstairs and 2 tons of cooling downstairs with a dual stage compressor for a total of 3.5 tons of cooling, or 900 square-foot per ton of air conditioning. This type of system is great for the hot, humid climate of Texas. In addition, there is a separate dehumidification unit so that when it is warm but not truly hot, the dehumidifier will run and assist the air conditioner, saving energy. This will keep the relative humidity of the house lower, which results in the home staying cooler without the air conditioner running. The Ultra Aire by Thermastor can remove up to 150 pints of water per day. Check out the video to learn more about this great HVAC system.
