I’m often found saying “It’s not Rocket Science, it’s Building Science”. When there is living space over a garage, we need to consider how we insulate the floor frame, and how we approach an air tightness strategy. Although the garage is inside the building, it is not usually a conditioned space and therefore considered “Outside” of the thermal envelope. In this video we treat the floor assembly above the garage as an assembly between the inside, and the outside. I go onsite to a current project under construction by my good friends at Shoreline Builders and take a look at this specific detail. Of course BIG RED joins in and we later walk thru the detail together. It all gets wrapped up by one of my favorites….”CONTINUITY IS KEY”….Enjoy the video
