3 Keys of Success for High Performance Building
In this video, Matt Risinger gives a recap of his keynote speech at The Energy & Environmental Building Alliance. He discusses his personal philosophy on home building and remodeling and what he sees as the three keys to success in high-performance home building. He talks about the importance of building specifically for the climate the house is in, and gives his definition of building science—which includes understanding and preventing failures, specifically water issues, as water is his number one enemy as a builder. He talks about why he's quit bidding and has quit asking his subcontractors to bid as well, driving the price down to the lowest price, which doesn't mean quality work. Instead, he's built a trusted team he can go to again and again who care about doing the job the right way, not the cheapest or fastest way, which is important to his integrity.
